The look is pure Americana but with a sophisticated flair. Warm brick, colonial blues and cherry cabinetry make this an inviting space, the heart of the home.

Turning three compartmentalized spaces into one grand kitchen was the idea that sparked this kitchen remodel. The wall between the sitting room and the existing kitchen was removed and a new header was created to make a larger kitchen with full amenities for the client who is a gourmet cook.

The designers and engineers at Covenant Kitchens & Baths, in Westbrook, designed the kitchen to her wish list which included, more space, more light, gourmet appliances and her wish to keep the shelf on the header beam to display her hand painted ceramic collection.

A bricked arch over the cook top provides a focal point when entering the space from the front hall and an arched window over a copper farm sink acts as a focal point when entering from the dining room. No matter which way you enter the space now, the look is fantastic.

Warm taupe large porcelain tiles in a random pattern provides a rich backdrop for the warm cherry cabinetry and cream painted and glazed cabinets which add to the interest and contrast.

At the far end is a window seat with a blue cushion and the blues are again brought out and balanced with the addition of a beautiful blue hutch sideboard in the eat-in area.
