Guilford Poets feature anniversary anthology

Guilford Poets Guild will celebrate the publication of its 20th Anniversary Anthology, Our Changing Environment, with a special reading by 12 members of the Guild Dec. 12.

GUILFORD — On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Guilford Poets Guild will celebrate the publication of its 20th Anniversary Anthology, Our Changing Environment, with a special reading by 12 members of the Guild.

The event will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Guilford Free Library. It begins with an Open Mic from 6:30 – 7 p.m. Guests are asked to bring an unwrapped children’s book, new or gently used, to be donated to the Community Dining Room.

Readers for the evening include: Carol Altieri, Evelyn Atreya, Gwen Gunn, Juliana Harris, Norman Marshall, Nancy Meneely, Jane Muir, Patricia H. O’Brien, Jen Payne, Elizabeth Possidente, Edward Walker and Gordy Whiteman. Each poet will read one of their poems selected for the new publication.

“Our Changing Environment,” edited by Edwina Trentham, features 48 Connecticut poets including members of the Guilford Poets Guild and winners of the 2018 Guilford High School Poetry Contest. It will be for sale at the event ($20) and is also available online at www.guilfordpoetsguild.org and from Breakwater Books in Guilford.

Remember to bring your own poem to share during the Open Mic, which is open to accomplished and aspiring poets of all ages wishing to present one original composition to a live audience.
