MADISON — The Madison Historical Society will host more than 50 vendors of fine antiques and collectibles during the 48th Annual Antiques Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, on the town green.
Dealers from across New England will be on site, along with live music and food provided by Spice Catering of Durham.
Visitors can explore a wide selection of antiques including art, ceramics, furniture, glass, jewelry, kitchenware, linens, memorabilia, pottery, toys, vintage accessories and more.
“We are looking forward to great weather and a wonderful show,” said Lyle Cubberly, MHS trustee and chairman of the Antiques Fair.
“The antiques show has been a rite of passage for many people who mark the end of summer with a visit to Madison’s historic green in search of treasures.”
For the first time, this year’s fair will offer live demonstrations of such traditional crafts as bobbin lace weaving and spinning, doll making, bookbinding, pottery molding and pottery decoration. Crafters will sell their wares and offer instruction on these traditional, pre-industrial trades.
Admission to the fair is $5 per person ($4 for MHS members); children 12 and younger are free. Gates open at 9 a.m. A coupon offering $1 off the admission price can be found on the MHS website at www.madisonhistory.org. For more information on the fair or other events hosted by the Society, please call 203-245-4567.
All proceeds benefit the historical society’s education and preservation programs.
