Prominent sportswriter and author Mike Lupica visited Westbrook Middle and High Schools on Sept. 11.

Lupica is a New York Times best-selling author who has penned 40 fiction and non-fiction books. The visit was to not only promote his newest fiction read “Strike Zone,” but also to speak to students about sports, writing and life.

The event was coordinated with R.J. Julia Booksellers of Madison.

“Strike Zone,” a baseball novel for younger readers, not only delivers “lively sports action” but deals with the complications children of undocumented immigrants must deal with, according to Kirkus reviews
