MADISON — Toronto-based real estate services giant Colliers International has created a new division headquartered in existing office space the company has at 135 New Road.

The company’s new division, Colliers Project Leaders USA, is focused on project management, development management, planning and advisory, as well as energy services. The Madison headquarters of Colliers Project Leaders USA oversees 140 employees located in offices in locations that include Boston, Providence, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.

Jonathan Winikur, executive managing director and a principal with Colliers Project Leaders USA, said the new division “captures the full range of services we provide, whereas the prior category of project management could be easily interpreted as an industry term for a specific type of project delivery, not reflecting the full scope of our capabilities.”

“Our clients rely on our team of experienced professionals to provide the technical knowledge, communications skills and management ability to solve their specific needs whether a building project, an energy efficiency improvement or an evaluation for the highest and best use of their assets,” Winikur said.

He said the business units that now make up Colliers Project Leaders USA have seen average growth of at least 10 percent on a compounded basis over the past 15 years, and expects that to continue. Winikur said that ultimately will lead the new division to increase its Connecticut workforce, although he declined to say how many additional workers might be hired.

Colliers has done construction services projects for a wide variety of clients, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, as well as the private school Choate Rosemary Hall and the University of Connecticut.

Gil Borok, chief operating officer for Colliers International’s U.S. operations, said the new division allows the company to “assemble the right teams with the right expertise, market knowledge and connections.”

Winikur said that prior to the creation of the Colliers Project Leaders USA, the company has had a project management team based in Madison since 2011. Before that, the project management team office was based in Old Saybrook for 15 years, starting in 1996.
