GROTON — A family was displaced after their home was destroyed by a two-alarm fire early Sunday morning, according to fire officials.

Fire units were dispatched to a Great Brook Road home for a reported residential structure fire.

Arriving firefighters found a “well advanced fire through the roof,” according to officials with the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department. A second alarm was struck, bringing additional personnel to the scene.

All of the occupants had escaped the home by the time firefighters arrived.

“We extend our condolences to the family that experienced the loss of their home on this Easter morning,” officials with the Center Groton Fire Department said.

Mutual aid units from Old Mystic, Mystic, Groton City, Ledyard and the Groton Long Point fire departments, along with Groton ambulance and Lawrence + Memorial paramedics, responded.
