CLINTON — Six people were rescued Sunday night after their boat became disabled and started to take on water, fire officials said.
The volunteer fire department was dispatched to the Long Island Sound for a reported marine rescue around 7 p.m.
Clinton’s marine rescue boat responded to an area of the Sound near Kelsey Point, where first responders found the vessel mechanically disabled and taking on water, officials said.
Officials said there were six people on the boat.
The crew on the rescue boat secured a line to the disabled vessel and towed it to a nearby spot without incident, officials said.
Westbrook Fire Department’s marine rescue unit also responded to the area, and followed the boat in tow into the channel as a precaution.
There were no injuries reported, officials said.
