Rosa DeLauro, 77, a native of the Wooster Square neighborhood of New Haven, has served as 3rd District representative since 1990. She is chairwoman of the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee. She also serves on the subcommittee responsible for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and is co-chairwoman of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. She is married to Stanley Greenberg, head of Greenberg Research in Washington, D.C. . They have three children and six grandchildren. DeLauro has been in the forefront of women’s and family issues, serving as the first executive director of EMILY’s List. She is one of the wealthiest members of Congress, based mostly on her husband’s firm’s net worth.
